Hi,

I was making this anchor last night, and it kept refusing to ramp.  I tried 3d and 2d adaptive's, same deal.  What may be going on?

The model feature you are machining with the 2D Adaptive Clearing is an open profile so the Ramp is not needed.  I replace your body with a Fixed Stock, of the same size, to show how the simulation of the tool.  As you can see the tool moves down to your multiple depths OUTSIDE the component so it is not plunging into material, it is in free air.  Ramp is not applicable here.

Hi John,

Thanks for the explanation and screencast, very helpful.

One caveat, mine is milled out of large sheets of AL (yet I model the setup as a form fitting box) , and the exterior approach does plunge into stock.

I changed the setup to include extra side stock, then it ramps into what it believes is a closed pocket.

Thanks!

Eric
