3d scanned model cleanup

Hello, I could use some help understanding how to clean up the attached model.  It was my first ever scan, thought it came out pretty good.  I need to get rid of the junk on the side and remove the piece of post that it is sitting  on.  The part is a finial for a post that I plan to 3d  print.  Any guidance would be appreciated.

It says the file is too big to include, how do I reduce the size.  I already zipped it?

Thanks

But I would have lined it up and placed at the Origin before all else, and trim that bottom to a plane.

Thanks for showing me that, I have watched several youtube videos on how to align the model to the origin but I cant figure it out.  It's probably so simple.
