2D drawing for each x-y-z plane, converted into 3D object in Fusion 360

I have 2D drawings for each plane, by combining the 3, I want to automatically create a 3D object.  It might be best described by this youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkzK3Gb9gw0

I don't know what to search, keyword or terminology for this kind of technology or process but the video will best explain what I wanted to do. Will that be possible with Fusion 360?

There was no automatic creation of any 3D geometry in that video - only heavy editing  of the video to skip over the design work.

But you could use 3 2d sketches to generate the geometry.

Attach your *.f3d file here if you can't figure it out.

My workflow for F360 would be like:

  • Draw it in Photoshop and save the design as *.png file
  • Import the png file 3 times as canvas on 3 different planes. Add a proper dimension to the canvas
  • Trace the png file manually with lines, splines etc. in F360 as sketch. Right now you will have that what was the finish of the video
  • Loft the sketches

or:

  • Draw it in Photoshop and save the design as *.png file
  • Import the png file into Illustrator, trace the lines with proper lines and splines (and not with a brush tool like in the video) and save the result as *.svg file
  • Import the svg file into F360. (Not sure how editable those files are in F360). The result should now look like the on in the video
  • Loft the sketches

Thank you for the reply.  I don't want to trouble you by spoonfeeding me, but if it is possible can you throw me a link to a video tutorial on how it might be done on Fusion 360 or at least the keywords or terminology used on doing that process so I can search it over youtube? 🙂 And thanks for your generous offer.

Thanks for the reply. Silly me, I replied to the first reply without refreshing the page so I didn't see your post.  Looks like you got me the keyword I needed 😄  Thank you so much! I now found the video tutorial I needed.

That's so polite of you. Don't hesitate to come back if you have more questions or help. Here are even more people who have a lot more knowledge than me who really like to help. It is a nice place to share or receive knowledge.
