How to add comments in the project?

It's pretty self explanatory. I need to add comments like I can do in the manual ui by clicking the plus icon.
How do we do that in the API?

Thank you,
Adrian

Where in the UI is the plus icon? I looked but don't see what you were talking about.

Thank you for the picture, that explains it now. Clicking the "+" isn't adding a comment but is just expanding the COMMENTS panel. The same control exists on the BROWSER and other panels. Unfortunately, there is not any API support for creating, editing, or reading the comments associated with a design.

It is best if the API does support this functionality, but this is also the first time that I remember anyone asking about it so I think it is rarely used.

Adding to the discussion regarding the comment box, I know this is for collaborative projects. Which is great if you are on a design team, but maybe not as many customers use this feature as is.

I'd like to see it develop into a full fledge asset browser that captures all the documents used in the creation process.

Potentially I'd like a different texture than is available, let the used drag and drop images, PDFs, DXF files, and pretty much anything a designer needs to keep a complete and traceable record  for a project.

Why keep a folder locally on my system when everything could be self-contained?

Hi and thank you for the answer

I was hoping that one could add (from an add-in or script) notes for the
generated designs.

Something like "this was generated using the buildMyDreamObject version
using the texture parameter=88, height=100 etc.

Maybe I'm missing something. Is there any way to achieve that kind of
common sense functionality?

I'm not aware of a way to achieve that today.
