Fusion 360 fails to open VS Code

Not applicable

Due to a plugin not functioning, presumably due to changes in the API, I wanted to fix it myself. However, Fusion 360 fails to open VS Code, instead freezing for a short period, then causing Chrome, if open, to flash as though something had happened, but on inspection, no new tab or prompt was visible in Chrome. I couldn't find anything relevant in the Diagnostics Log. Assistance with this would be appreciated

Hello,

Try this:

  1. Close Fusion 360
  2. Open VS Code
  3. Downgrade the Python extension to version 2019.9.34911
  4. Restart Fusion 360

I have the same problem, it seems.

In F360: Tools > Scripts and Addins > select a script > Edit

The first time I do this (after starting F360), a command window briefly shows on the screen, and a line or two of commands flash. But the window disappears too quickly to see anything.

Subsequent attempts to invoke Edit seem to do nothing.

I note the suggestion to "Downgrade the Python extension to version 2019.9.34911". How does one do that? I did not find any obvious UI in VSCode to do that.

Thanks.

Hi Graham,

First time you see a console window it is related to checking\installng of python extension in vscode.

If you need to downgrade extension to lower version 2019.9.34911.

Please refer to the following similar issue.
