Does anyone besides me think that integration of AR into the software would give the software an industry edge?

I think it would be awesome to take snaps of objects and directly import and integrate them into designs. especially if designs could be created with VR it seems designing 3D objects in a 3D environment would help with work flow issues.

If anyone has opinions either way I'm interested to hear your thoughts.

Thank you and much luck to everyone.

Strictly speaking there is already a pipeline to export to view in VR, but you cant do any editing.

Personally I would be interested in a sort of shallow VR where you sit at your desk and interact with the program in a traditonal manner using keyboard and mouse and an in VR rendering of your computer screen. Except that the viewport would be an actual 3d vr view of your model instead of a 2d projection.

It solves all the issues with adapting to vr controllers by just throwing them out and using your normal controls with only somewhat changed rendering code.
And it lets you do phased addition of any interesting vr interface ideas you want to play with like hand tracking.

If you have a burning desire to do some cad in VR then maybe try the vr sketch plugin for sketchup.
