Custom UI with api

I am having a hard time grasping whether or not the api is capable of customizing the existing user interface with custom attributes.  In my case I would like to add a custom attribute to the CAM -> SETUP -> Post Process tab.  Is this possible with the API or not?

You can't modify the contents of the dialogs of other commands.  You can only define the contents of the dialogs for your own custom commands.
