I am hoping to hire someone to create a custom API for the Manufacturing workspace that will create a sketch inside of each of the nest sheet manufacturing models that the nesting study creates. It is highly repetitive and if anything updates in the nesting study, it creates new study sheets, which I then have to start all over again.
We machine our product from large stock we manufacture in house, up to 540" x 104", and I am having to create a sketch in each nesting study to provide contours for cutting down the scrap/offcuts into manageable sizes. The sketch has 0.3" offsets of each of the components as construction lines and a rectangle that is 3 inches larger than the stock size in X and Y located 2.5 inches off the "lowest" component edge in the Y and 2.5 inches off the most "right" edge of the X. We then draw normal lines from the offset of each component to the surrounding rectangle to cut into smaller pieces. The offset from each is to ensure that the tool path doesn't contact the component when setting up the 2D contour. The distance between each of the lines can be 30-60".
I am open to different methods/options. As long as it generates lines that don't cut the components, extend just outside the stock, and is spaced 30-60", that's all I care about.
