Is it possible to connect a "gaming" joystick to Fusion 360 for changing the view of the Model? If yes, how? if no what can i do?

Hi Sedrick,

I don't think this is a supported option, you could use a 3d mouse though! (This will work out of the box and is much more suited for changing the view of a 3D model as it uses more axis.)

Otherwise you will have to write the connection yourself. There is likely to be some good python libraries to read the input from your joystick and the Fusion 360 API supports the Camera Object with which you should be able to rotate and move the view.

I doubt it is worth the trouble but it might be a cool project 😉

I know it's an old post, but I use a generic gamepad and free AntiMicro software on my Win PC to map the gampad joysticks and buttons to control Fusion ( and auto-switch to different profiles for tinkercad, blender, netfabb, meshmixer, etc - so the same joystick controls work for all the software that I use )

Hi Alex

Here's a link to my Fusion settings file for antimicro :

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tE1ilfpJW-swMcUs3eAJbtVdYAU0li-o/view?usp=sharing

left joystick --

- fwd / back to zoom

- hold left and move mouse ( no click ) to Pan

- Right to Escape

right stick --

- hold left and move mouse ( no click ) to Rotate

- fwd to Set Orbit Point

I have others that I use for Meshmixer, Blender, etc, so the Pan, Zoom & Rotate is the same stick action for all the software that I use

Hole that helps

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the reply, when opening your cofig i cant seem to see any changes in antimacro?

Basically i have just purchased a 'Belkin n52te' game pad and i was hoping to configutre the dpad to pan and tilt in fusion.

*edit i think its an issue with my game pad not being dected by antimacro

Thanks again,

Alex
