Zoom reverses when I open a drawing

Anonymous
Not applicable

I always work with "normal" zoom direction.  Since the latest Fusion update, normal designs are as expected, but drawings have the reverse zoom direction.  If I use preferences to click "reverse zoom direction," click apply, then uncheck it, and click apply again, any drawings that are already open are fixed.  But any drawings that I open from that point forward have reverse zoom.  I can go back and forth between two drawings, with one having normal zoom and the other having reverse zoom.

If I leave "reverse zoom direction" checked, then all designs and drawings have reverse zoom.

Hi @Anonymous,

thanks for posting! I tried to reproduce this behavior both for Windows (with a mouse) and Mac (with a trackpad), but zoom works as expected. Which are you using?

You can try to set the Preferences for Fusion 360 to defaults (note that it includes ALL the preferences): How to reset to the default display in Fusion 360. Let me know if that helps.

Thanks in advance!

I am having the same problem this morning. Using the scroll wheel on my mouse to zoom, it runs the opposite direction in the Drawing as it does in the Model.

Running Windows 10 Pro.  In Preferences, I have Pan, Zoom, Orbit set to Solidworks and I have not selected Reverse Zoom.

Hi @pawel.potyrala,

I use Windows 10 Pro with a mouse (scroll wheel). My colleague has the same issue with his computer, which has the same setup.

I just set the Preferences to default, restarted Fusion, and I see the same problem - I open a part and a drawing, and they have opposite zoom direction.

Hi @Anonymous, @jpvonoy,

thanks once again for notifying us about this behavior. I still have not been able to reproduce it.

I would like to ask you for the following information:

  1. Your OS name, version and description (for Windows, it's listed under "System information" in the Windows menu),
  2. Your Fusion 360 Diagnostic Log Files (Question mark in the top right corner of the Fusion 360 User Interface -> Support and Diagnostics -> Diagnostic Log Files)
  3. The details of your mouse drivers (for Windows, look for Mouse & touchpad settings -> Additional mouse options -> Hardware -> Properties -> Driver -> Driver Details).

I hope this helps me reproduce it. Thank you in advance!

Hi Pawel,

I haven't heard anything back on this.  Were you able to reproduce the bug I'm seeing?  Everyone in my office (using both Macs and Windows) sees the same problem.

Hello @Anonymous, @jpvonoy

apologies @Anonymous - I replied in a private message last Thursday. We did reproduce this issue and it is logged in with our development team as FDWG-10180. Thanks a lot for sending over the information!

The only quick workaround I am aware of at the moment is the one you mentioned in your first post, which is:

  1. Enable Reverse zoom direction in Preferences -> Apply
  2. Disable Reverse zoom direction -> Apply

in every running session of Fusion 360.

I will keep you updated with any progress. Apologies for the inconvenience and thank you in advance for the patience!

I keep seeing this behavior. I have to constantly reapply the reverse zoom setting for it to behave as expected. I am experiencing exactly what OP described.

It's not a big deal really, I could relearn it if neccessary. It is disconcerting mostly. Glad you guys were able to reproduce the problem though.

I am having the same issue.  I know it's not significant but drives me crazy nonetheless.  Hope it gets worked out fairly soon.

Hi alouramore,

Yes, we are working on this.  Even though it is a relatively minor issue and not something like a crash, usability issues like this can get frustrating quickly.  Thank you  for your patience.

This issue was listed as closed in the V.2.0.5278 update, but I just experienced it again in V.2.0.5338.  I'm running MacOS 10.13.6, using 3D Connexion desktop mouse.  The toggle preferences workaround still works, but I'd say the bug has not fully been killed.

I've been having this issue as well and seems to happen when I batch open drawing files.

Operating System: Windows 11
