Mesh Count HOLOLENS

Hi Everyone,

I am working in Fusion360 after I have created and object or been given an object to convert to a Hologram. Recently I have been provided a STP File that contains 443 parts within the file. I am currently using the ProTech Solutions Fusion360 Plugin to directly convert to a .FBX file. I then open that file in my HoloLens using the 3D Viewer Beta. Unfortunately when I attempt at opening the file the app reads "Loading this model would exceed the total allowed loaded mesh count".

Is there a way to reduce the Mesh Count?

My other option would be to individually Brep to Mesh each Body through the entire STP file, all 443 of them, but that has proven to take quite sometime...

Hope someone out there can assist!

Thank you in advance for your support!

Hi @Anonymous,

Very cool workflow! Do you know what the max allowable face count is for that beta software? My guess is you would have to use a mesh editing software such as Autodesk Remake or Meshmixer that has built in tools to remesh and reduce the face count. Sometimes quality takes a hit though depending on how much you need to reduce the mesh by. In Fusion (although this differs from your FBX worfkow a bit), if you directly save out the entire model (all 443 bodies) as a STL file - you should have some control over the mesh quality and refinement:
