Global Parameters

Hello,

I would have posted this to feedback, but apparently I don't have permissions for that channel.

I am looking for Global Parameters to use throughout my designs. As part of my research, I came across the suggestion from @tyler_henderson to use a Derived import.

While this works well for many projects, it does not fit my use case.

I want to provide a set of Global Parameters for commonly used sizes that *all* of my projects can access. "Derive references can only be created within the same Hub, and within the same Project."

The types of data that I see myself adding to Global Parameters that truly are global are things such as nut sizes so that proper cut outs and clearances can be accounted for. This would include charts such as this for common screw and nut sizes that I use:

Think of this as a "lookup table" that is globally accessible. This would allow me to quickly update all of my local project variable to the currently selected screw/nut size.

Example:

RiserMountNutHeight = M04_Nut_Height

This is my use case, but as I am fairly new to Fusion 360 (2 years, more off than on, personal use), and am looking for simple ways to use it, then I am sure that professionals can find even more ways to utilize these types of global lookups for their common items without needing everything to be "within the same hub and within the same project".

also, check out "sheeter" - an add-in that lets you define parameters in a Google Sheets spreadsheet, and import that into your design:  sheeter-google-sheets-connection-for-fusion-360
