fusion becoming unresponsive

Evening

This is a problem I have had ever since using fusion360 (over a year). sometimes it is worse than others.

When using fusion 360 all works fine.  However if I then change windows and use safari, for example.  When I then change back to fusion 360, it becomes unresponsive and does not allow it to work correctly.  For example, it will not allow selection of objects, panning stops working etc.

AT the moment since the most recent update this seems even worse.

Intersted to see if this is a ongoing fusion issue or a Mac computer issue.

@danpayneuk the behavior you describe - losing control of Fusion after switching applications - is something I have heard before, but it can be triggered in a variety of ways, and is not always consistently reproducible.

Often it's because an OS file browser window has opened (in the event of local Export, Insert, etc) and somehow trapped itself behind the Fusion window it's blocking.

This is certainly not intentional, but it's been difficult to track down. What command were you working with before switching away from Fusion?

Im not sure to be honest.  Its something I have not really noticed, but will attempt to see keep an eye on.

I no today since the upgrade I was in sketch mode.  Every time I have come away from fusion and then switched back, I have had to close fusion down completely and reopen.  In the past I could get away with just saving and it would seem to resolve the issue.

The problem might happen when you are switching back to Fusion. Do you click the dock icon? If it is popped up to sit on top of the timeline, it sends  a "mouse down" event to the timeline, and no "mouse up" event.

This can be solved each time by simply running the mouse over the timeline icons. Please try it and let us know what happens.

Umm yes that seems to work.  Fingers crossed that's it sorted.  Thanks for the tip.

Hi,

As of this week, with the latest update, this issue is fixed.

  1. If you haven't updated yet this week, shut down Fusion and restart it.
  2. Click the clock icon in the top bar to watch the update progress, click Restart when it finishes.

The current build number is found in the Help > About box. It is 2.0.8156.
