Creating a fillet / chamfer on one edge of a square tube

I would hope this is a pretty basic question.  I have created a piece of square tubing 12" long.  Fillets on all outside and inside corners.  Now I want to add a fillet / chamfer to one edge of one end of the same tube. I can't seem to select just the one edge I want to fillet, It seems to auto grab all 8 edges.  I am more that sure the problem is in the user not the software, however it is getting pretty frustrating.  Please help...😕

It sounds to me like you need to disable "tangent chain selection:
