2D Drawing not opening

I can not make a 2D Drawing. I also cannot access a previous 2D Drawing. I am doing this through a work computer and would like to avoid uninstalling and reinstalling but I do need a solution fairly quickly if possible. Thanks in advance.

Hi @whittakerdw,

I'm sorry to hear that! Please try these steps: (You may need to have "show hidden files and folders" enabled to perform the process below. Please refer to How to enable hidden files and folders on Windows for more information.)

  1. Go to the ProgramData folder on your C-drive.
  2. Enter the Autodesk folder.
  3. Delete the FusDoc folder.

The path is:
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\FusDoc.

Please let me know if you're able to open Drawings after doing that, or if you run into any trouble trying this method!

Thanks for the additional information - let me check around to see what info I can find about this. In the meantime, can you check to see what version of Fusion 360 you're running? You can find that in Help > About in Fusion 360. The version should be 2.0.4383 after last night's update.

I'm having the same issue. Can't create a new drawing or open existing drawings. I get the same error that was shown above and I don't have a Fusdoc folder in my programdata folder either.  I am running version 2.0.4383. If I reinstall as the popup dialog says will I lose anything? I will try a full system reboot before uninstalling.

I am not sure if anything will be lost and with this being a work computer I don't want to risk losing anything. I hate you are having the same problem but, in a sense, I am glad to hear I am not the only one having this issue.

Hi all

If you uninstall Fusion and reinstall you will not lose any data...

Why does Drawings fail to start? Most likely it's because some files were left behind by the Update. This can happen if the files were somehow in use when the Update executed (they cannot be removed in this situation)

I recommend in situations where Drawings fails to start up

  1. uninstall Fusion 360
  2. run the Fusion360 cleaner app
  3. reinstall Fusion 360

I hope this solves your issues

If this could be a result from the update is there anyway this could be fixed? With this being a work computer for me I don't know that I am able to uninstall the application.

Really, the best way to solve this is as I explained above.

As it's your work PC, if you are unable to uninstall yourself, then you may have to involve your IT admin.

Hi Patrick

can you try copying d3dcompiler_47.dll into the same folder that the program accoreconsole.exe resides please?

Thanks

Fenton

I wasn't the one who started this thread  so I can't see and option to mark it as resolved. But Fenton was able to remote into my system and get it working. Thanks Fenton

  1. Right click your Fusion desktop icon
    1. click 'Properties'
    2. in 'Properties', click the 'Open File Location' button. This will open Windows Explorer to the base folder of your Fusion launcher folder.
    3. Next, go up 2 folder levels
  2. Now in Windows Explorer, enter in the search box  "accoreconsole.exe"
    1. Right click the resulting AcCoreConsole.exe and click 'Open file Location'. This will open a separate Windows Explorer Window which we will use shortly.
    2. Now close the "accoreconsole.exe" search using the 'Close Search' button
    3. Next search for (exclude quotes) "d3dcompiler_47.dll"
    4. Right click the resulting d3dcompiler_47.dll and click 'Copy'
  3. Finally, in the new Windows Explorer window that was opened at the AcCoreConsole.exe search results (item 2.1) 'Paste' the copied d3dcompiler_47.dll
  4. Now try Fusion Drawings

You are a great individual. Thanks to everyone that helped on this topic. I did what you had said by moving the file locations. It worked! Thank you everyone for your time and hopefully this will help others in the future. Thanks again everyone.

What caused that file to go missing? Or what would have caused drawings to not open?

At this time, we think it maybe caused by Windows Update, are all of you on Windows 7?

I have not tested this, but perhaps a better solution that the one I describe above is to manually install this Microsoft update...

I am on Windows 7. Thats interesting that the windows update can have an effect on fusion like that. I have drawings working now and hopefully it wont go down again, but if it does I know what to do now. Thanks.
