Not sure how much coding this would be or whatever, but it would be incredibly helpful for me to have some options when it comes to sheet metal interference. Currently, if flanges overlap there are a couple problems: One, They automatically join thereby voiding the sheet metal part and it eliminates the ability to flatten & check & add features to the design. Also, The way I use sheet metal, I sometimes will not care about overlap/interference but still need to be able to flatten the component. It would be great if instead of joining, Fusion would just highlight the intersection in red or purple or something and allow unfolding with a warning. Also need to be able to map & render with intersection/warning.
UPDATE: What would be the icing on the cake, is if Fusion could even offer solutions to interference and modify the geometry accordingly. Maybe I'm dreaming.
Just, you know, whenever you can get around to it...
Hello @SEIZMICdesign,
Thank you for your feedback. There are two different aspects to your experience, one is that we join when there is interference and the other is that we don't provide and feedback / warning. Both of these items are in the teams backlog. I would like to have the ability to have a flange intersect and not join, there are a number of benefits to having this option. sometimes you need to account for spring back in the metal, have tabs and so on. Our plan is to have an option to analyze interference and provide real time feedback when turned on. This way the user decides when the tradeoff between performance and detection is needed.
Cheers,
