I come up with this:

The text is miss shapen What am I doing wrong?

I think something is broken, in the way that this official guide explains. Perhaps someone should look into that. But the guide you provided seems to work, it does have the workaround of extruding the letters into the cylinder, and I did have to project it to get that to work, (went off script a bit for it to work). but anyway it seems to kinda work
