Need help with choosing tool paths for an 3d carving please.

Hello: I am working on making this attached plaque as a gift for the husband of a friend who recently passed away from cancer. I thought as the first milling operation, I should use adaptive clearing to remove the bulk of material. Then mill the angel, then the text. When generating the adaptive clearing tool path, it is taking forever for it to generate, and I gave a gaming laptop I'm using. (It's been 20 min and I'm still waiting)

My question is, Am I using the correct tool paths for this job? Or am I setting them up wrong? If I'm doing this wrong please advise on the correct method.

Thank you for you help with this.

Bill

Did you convert the Mesh to a Solid Body?

I coarsened up the Adaptive settings and all seemed OK (but I'm a novice!)tt.jpghh.jpgjj.jpg

I can't tell what you did to make it better or am I missing something?

I adjusted your settings in the adaptive. Significantly decreasing the complexity of the generated Toolpath.

ok..I'm confused. I don't see any attached file to see what you did. Or do I need to download the file I attached because you changed that file?

I'm confused as well as I am sure I had attached my file in the "quick and dirty" post!

Thank you so much. That seems to mostly work. Except (when running the simulation) the very first pass looks perfect. The second and subsequent passes put a black or gray "border" around the outer area. Also, it doesn't clear the material at the bottom and very top of the angle.  Can you tell me why the first pass is good but the rest don't clear all the material completely?

Thank you again for your help.
