Is there a better way to do this?

I am working a project to automate a furniture company (who currently hand-sculpts). Based off sketches and some 3D splines I recreated one of their products using Inventor (because Fusion can't read 3D splines from Rhino). I then had to export the resulting solid out to Fusion as a step file.

Down the road, we had to make a couple of modifications to the file and direct editing was tool of choice.

The pocket at the back of the seat bottom was widened by 1/16th on either side.

I had already created a 2D contour with tabs around the perimeter of this and assumed that the file would update the path based on the geometry change. It did not. It took us several hours of troubleshooting to find the culprit

Is there a better way to deal with geometry changes so that we're not having to manually update each operation?

A 2D Contour can be driven by the model or by a sketch. If you drive it off the sketch, edit the model and the sketch doesn't update, than no, it won't update the CAM. If you drive the 2D Contour off of the model, it should follow the updates/changes

There are no sketches involved in this part. The only mods to the solid that came in were direct edits to widen the various pockets.

Hmm. Is this a part you could share, or modify and then share? (circumvent any NDA restrictions)
