Help "Engraving" a shape

Hello

I am almost new to Fusion 360.

I am trying to setup milling for my recently built cnc mill. I'm having problems with the "engravings" on sides of the shirt shape. Whatever type of milling I do, it doesn't actualy generate path for it  and rather in some settings mill out everything around. Why ? How do I properly setup milling of those small "indentations" ?

Can you File>Export>*.f3d to see what you actually have setup? I am not real clear on what you are asking.

Accepted solution

The tool you have selected is bigger than many areas of the indentations you are trying to machine. Did you want to machine these with a flat bottom tool, or were you thinking you could use a 90 degree "vee" bit?

With a Vee bit, here's what I get:

Of course, you could force the 3.175mm endmill through those areas, but it will violate a fair amount of the model. I'd use 2D Contour:

Thank you so much for the reply. Is there a specific way of setup/milling configuration to force to use the bit I have (correct - flat bottom) ? I do have V one but I'm kinda scared to use it as the stock is 4mm plywood and I've heard that V bits are more for delicate engravings like pcbs laminates

Press the ALT key. Select a single inside contour edge. Select it again, this opens up a small box. Add onto the chain, select the "+" sign when done. You've made your first ever open contour selection (intentionally)

Repeat for other channel, selecting the side.

 

You will need to set compensation to Computer as well as adjust your Tangential Lead in (negative value of the tool radius) as well as turn off Lead In/Out
