Fusion 360 Adaptive Clearing for CNC milling

Screen Shot 2021-10-27 at 12.01.08 PM.pngI'm new to Fusion 360 and have been going through tutorials for the past week. I've now reached the point where I'd like to CNC my design at home. I've tried the 3D adaptive clearing tool path, but the tool path is focusing on machining stock material that necessarily doesn't need to be removed. Are there any links to tutorials about setting the 3D adaptive tool path to focus only on machining the components I need and not the excess stock material? I could cut out my components this way, but I'm certain there is a more time efficient solution to my setup.

Quite easy, use machining boundary and stock contours to contain the toolpaths, then use an "Additional Offset" that is big enough to allow the tool to do the toolpath and set the "Tool Containment" to "Tool outside Boundary".

You want something like this where it just cuts around the parts ??

For your reference it is much better if you upload your Fusion file, go to :-

File > Export > Select f3d format > Save to a location on your computer > Then attach to your reply.

Thanks for your help. And yes. Im just looking to machine the geometry of the part and keep the rest of the stock/tabs untouched. When selecting the contours of the components to machine. Do i simply select a single contour of the component? Or for say an extruded cylinder the top and bottom lines for it to machine? It's multiple arranged parts within the stock and it stops allowing me to select multiple after 8 or 9 components.

If you are using 3D Adaptive toolpath then it is what is known as "Model Aware", that means it knows the shape of the model so you only need to select a single edge for the software to machine to, if you need to use Tabs then you will need to set the "Bottom Height" in your 3D Adaptive toolpath to slightly above the model bottom and then use a Contour toolpath to cut to the model bottom and have Tabs.

You need to upload your file to be able to show better how to select all the different shapes you have in your image, if you do not wish to upload your file then I can be of no more help, you can ask one of the Autodesk staff who will do this as an NDA task for you for free 🙂
