Currently, Named Views capture the current position and store them under a name.
However, the parameters behind this are never visible and can not be edited.
(I guess there would be 6 parameters needed. 3 for defining an origin, one for the distance of that point and two for the two angles needed to describe the 3D orientation.)
It would be much better, if a right-click on that named view would allow "properties" to be shown in a separate dialog to be both shown and edited. See the following mock-up UI:
This would have the advantage that one can easily recreate "identical" or "defined" Named Views, aka "Camera positions" for rendering. It also allows these values to be linked to user-parameters for easy or automatic adaptation.
In fact, it could even be used to "measure" the current view port by first "Update Named View" and den showing the values
Another benefit would be, that this would "open" the possibility for an easy "Copy and Paste" of Named Views in between different models (and projects, even), as all that is "copied" would be the 7 data values (Name + 6 parameters).
Finally, it also would allow to use "project global" parameters to adjust named views across multiple models, should such a feature ever be implemented.

I think I have seen a similar request here on the Idea Station a while back, but I can't find it anymore. (If you do, please post a link as a comment and I happily up-vote and will cross-link)
