Hello, pretty much given up on the ideas station because despite loads of votes, even essential ideas rarely get implemented. (see Ability to reference Driven Dimensions) . I suspect some ideas are harder to implement, so here is one that might be easy?
Can we have the ability to turn zero distance errors into the suppression of a feature please?
Why? Because in the absence of CONFIGURATIONS (another long term idea not yet resolved https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-ideastation/configurations/idi-p/7774986) its possible to control the suppression of features using a unitless parameter of 0 and 1.... but its not easy because of zero distance and zero dimension errors. You have to construct a very convoluted sketch to get this to work.
IF a feature could cope with a zero, or better become automatically suppressed when it realises its not doing anything useful, a few unit less parameters can act as boolean switches (0 or 1) to control multiple features by multiplying the value in a feature by the boolean parameter. hey presto... configurations. of a sort at least.
Still with me? take a join extrusion feature, where the distance is a value multiplied by the boolean, if its a 1, it equals the value, if its a zero the extrusion is zero, and nothing happens (effectively its suppressed). Perfect. Set the model up well and altering a few parameter can control the model configuration.
A small tweak to unlock a massive level of functionality.
Whats are the chances?
