Tool LIbrary--Create custom tool holder?

Tool LIbrary--Create custom tool holder?

Hi

I'm just learning the ropes in Fusion.  I liked the tool library layout and would like to suggest that the user can draw a custom tool holder to be used in their library. This would be useful for custom boring tools where part clearance becomes an issue in deep hole boring.

I noticed that a new "turn tool" button is available.. does this mean lathe is close?

Yes, both custom tools and holders will be supported at some point. Not sure if we will allow direct drawing within the tool library or if you need to model the holder in Fusion and then import it into the tool library.

Turning support is currently in development but there is still some missing pieces before it can be released. But getting closer.

Are there any updates on this subject maybe ?

I'm battling this same thing right now - it needs to happen as there are so many different toolholders out there, and we use some oddball ones for internal boring too.  It would be great to import the manufacturer's CAD model and have a toolholder.

I've beat this drum before but custom tools as well as cutting and simulation in the -X direction... who does't reverse the spindle occasionally?

THis option I want it so badly . Lots of prospects that I am working on right now is asking for this option . generating a toolpath with custom tool creation will save lots of machining time in real time .

Fusion developers atleast please give us the beta version option of custom tool creation.

Also needed, the ability to create the same tool to machine the back side -X of a part--  D. Houser

+1 for this.

I would prefer to be able to model holders in Fusion and then import into the library.  I feel that once this is available, the "community" will jump in and entire tool brand libraries will be available in short order.  I'm a Techniks CAT40 user, and I know I would gladly contribute cad models of every holder into a "community library".

I would also like to be able to import a model for a tool holder.

Any progress in this matter? I too would like to have the option to import custom model for the holder.

Hi @azrael_sk

As of now you can enter the values of the upper , lower diameter and height of each and every section of your real time tool holder and add them into your library . Which most of the times seems simple for me rather than drawing the revolve profile of the custom tool holder .

the toolholder section could use a LOT of revamp. first off, if there's no option to import a cad model, we need a readout that shows overall length as you keep adding sections, its a huge pain in the ass to add up all the little sections to get exact overall length.

As proposed, custom tool creation is an issue. I have to use this tool:

And I have no way to check for collisions with the bottom part of the shaft. Also, all my standard slot cutters have the shaft extended below the controlling point.

Edit: Just saw that this functionality was already implemented in the October 2017 update ...
