Too Many Lines! When Working Inside Component Occlude Transparent Lines

I'm working on a design that uses extrusions. It's already got a lot going on. 

However, when I zoom in I can see and select planes and lines pretty well:

However, when I try to work on a component, it quickly becomes impossible to tell what's what. That's cause it's not occluding the lines. It would be much better if it were hiding the lines I shouldn't be able see from that angle while still maintaining object transparency. :

The problem becomes most apparent when zooming in. I am no longer able to clearly tell where the planes are and what the lines are:

It would be great if only the lines facing me were visible as is the case with the opaque view.
