Standard bolt and nut library

Standard bolt and nut library

I would like to see bolts that can be installed into the system from a library. These would include ANSI English and Metric as well as ISO, JIS and Holokrome. All fasteners could be added to this library and this could be used similar to the tool library in the CAM part of the program. The user could choose the size and length of the bolt being used and a preview would show where the fastener would be placed. Washers could also be used on these. This is done in CREO Parametric (a software I also use) however; I find Fusion 360 much better at a whole lot of things..

Hi Johnalle,

I agree with your request and would like to encourage the development team to look into a fitting solution!

The current solution seems to link to external libraries (and external websites) which can be supplied by your local fasteners supplier. In a way, this works great as you immediately have the order codes for the needed components. And, all none standard components can be listed this way as well. Although actually finding and downloading the files turns out to be tedious and doesn't quite fit with the designing speed that you expect from Fusion 360.

My addition to your request would be to design a cross-over between the current system and the 'classical' system.

I would love a quick tool which will create fasteners components based on a small database (like Inventor and others) but with the addition that these components can be linked to suppliers data. This would mean that suppliers would simply be able to list which component numbers would link to certain standard components. (And possibly more data with another click?)
All other components can be linked to their own small database, downloading one part with changeable parameters.

Parameters should be changed using a simple graphical user interface. In this GUI one would also be able to choose the preferred supplier or <none>.

I guess I quite like the solution that is used in the rendering environment; a couple of standards that are already on your PC or project, and the possibility to download more. The standards would, of course, be the standardizations like ISO, ANSI, DIN, JIS etc. The 'more' would be other components that are not part of these standards but can be supplied by your local supplier.

Then I would also like to request the option to insert these components as a link instead of actually placing them into my document. A small folder will need to be created for these components in the current project folder.
