Sortable parameter list

Sortable parameter list

The organization of the parameter list is locked in to the order i which parameters were created.  Better, this list should conform to the standards implemented for spreadsheet-type lists in virtually every place one encounters them - the standard is that these lists are sortable on any column by simply clicking the header for that column.  Repeated clicks cause the list to toggle between ascending between descending order.

As it is now, if one has a sizable list, finding the parameter of interest is a very tie consuming effort.  At the very least, the list should default to  standard collating sequence based on parameter name.

Another thing which you might consider is to allow importing/exporting a parameter list from/to an Excel spreadsheet.

Such improvements would save designers massive amounts of time.

It would be an advantage to be able to do a straight printout of the Parameter List that you create in advance to help with your initial sketch.

I have created my list of parameters that I need, but apart from writing them down, I end up opening the Parameter Dialogue Box.

Place a print button on the top of the dialogue box.

Added already 🙂

Please support all ideas around this concept. It is so simple and basic that it is unbelievable it wasn't implemented as part of the original.

It shouldn't require a hundred votes (or whatever) just to get implemented.

IT SHOULD ALREADY BE THERE!

This can already be done (supposedly) with the use of the Import/Export Parameter Add-In. However when I tried it (several times) I had nothing but trouble with it. May have been me not doing something correctly, so you may have better luck.

Cheers

I posted a comment about doing a printout of the user parameters.

In my old age I forgot the basic windows function.

Just bring up your parameter dropdown box, make sure that it is large enough without scrolling to see all your parameters then press Alt + Print Screen.

This will give you a PNG file that can be viewed in your favourite photo software or Paint.

Just print.

I know it's a bit of long way to get your readout but should help until a print function is added to the drop down Parameter box.

This does not provide the stated need of sorting the list. A png file is not a list, but simply a photo; if one has a list of (say) 100 parameters, ability to sort the list is essential to being able to find parameters quickly and easily. The parameter list truly needs the ability to be sorted by clicking a column header - this is standard in virtually all lists, in virtually all software, and on virtually all platforms. Why not in F-360?

Sorry, it was not meant as a fix, just a way of getting a copy on paper so
you can view.
I agree with the need to add more to the drop box to do a search or
alphabetical list, and a print function.

No need for apology. Was just clarifying the need. Couldn’t tell if you understood it.

Wilburg, have you tried to use the Excel add-in?

Didn’t know about it. Will look for it and try if I can find it.

I wonder how the idea of some excell operations did not come to designers mind !!

Table operations are so basic and yet none has been provided.

Although it’s possible to export the User Parameters (via Add-in), sort in a spreadsheet then import, it’s a right pain to do when alphabetic sort or drag-n-drop within the list should be possible
