Sketch - Controller for Parameters

Sketch - Controller for Parameters

Fusion constraint-based parametric-based Sketch is already powerfull and easy to use. To further improve it I suggest the introduction of a simple controller to drive some parameters. With that Fusion Sketch can be became a good place to try 2D simulations, usefull in conceptual and early designs.

The controller, associated to a parameter, specify start / increment / end values and allow users to play (forward, backward).

Fusion will calculate the new values, position geometry, display it, increment the parameter and repeat.

I see the "Modify/Change Parameters" panel as an interesting place for those controllers.

Thank you

Marcio

More generally, I'd love to have some simple dynamics and support for internal and external controllers in 2D and 3D

You made interesting points: This request is more towards kinematics than dymanics. Dynamics (involving forces, masses) is more complicated. The way Fusion implemented parametrics in the Sketch make it very close to add simple controller with minimal effort ( I guess ).

Your point about EXTERNAL controller is key and may be another idea. For example, I work with another application ( ABC for short ) to model the logics of a product ( an ECU for example ). In ABC I can also define parameters and (I should be able to) relate them to Fusion Sketch parameters. So now I can drive Fusion Sketch parameters from ABC.

In other words, I can simulate both, the ECU (in ABC) and the mechanics in Fusion and have both simulation connected.

Modelica may be a good language for that.
