Show hidden objects

Could you implement the light bulb in the right-click contextual menu? It will make things a lot simpler, especially when working with complex assemblies to be able to just right-click a component to hide it.

In some other CAD systems (like CATIA) you can "swap the visible space". In the hidden, "invisible" space you could then right-click components and make them visible again.

Not sure if I got you right, but isn't this what isolate/unisolate does?

Hello @lichtzeichenanlage!

Thanks for your comment.

Isolate does not quite do what I'm suggesting, you will still need to look up the components in the browser when you want to isolate them, while my suggestion is to add it to the right-click contextual menu when clicking on the graphical representation of the component. Also, it isn't really possible to swap back and forwards, you will have to redo the selection to re-isolate them, which is a bit cumbersome.

Okay - thanks for clarifying. Makes a lot of sense for me. Vote +1

Agree!

Like CATIA, like Revit.

This is also very similar how it works in ZW3D.

It's I think the 5th time we come back on this request, I don't know how to call it, but it's a must and needed, when you know Catia and many other cads, you cannot work without this fonction, we want to see the invisible and be able to select and swap from visible to invisible.

I find it incredulous that this issue has not a higher rating. It makes it extremely frustrating when working with complex assemblies (100+ components and subcomponents), everytime you want to show something hidden having to traverse that enormous tree of components and subcomponents trying to find what is hidden... Even worse, if the model is saved with hidden components somebody else may not even be aware that stuff is hidden when they open it!! Or for those of us with deteriorating memory...

This is exactly the reason I have stopped posting ideas!

It would be a very nice productivity feature when working with assemblies, but 99% of Fusion 360 users don't ever get to that level, or have never worked with other CAD systems where this is possible thus aren't able to judge how useful it would be.

It’s make no sens that this feature is not implemented yet you are right, it look like not enough people know how reall CAD system work and the use of this fonction in large assembly.

Thanks for your comment,

Wow, this thing is still rumbling around collecting votes.

Check out these similar requests, starting with one I posted in 2015 which got a grand total of 2 votes 🤔:

For those Fusion users who haven't experienced the visible/hidden workspaces in other CAD packages, trust me it makes life one whole he'll of a lot easier when searching for parts, especially in large assemblies.

It is a base feature you need is software as Catia V5, NX, Creo, when you know cad design before the internet and the Iphone you can’t imagine to work with a CAD software that do not have show/no show, visible invisible.

It was there in every software I did work, Euclid, Strim100, AutoTroll, Unigraphics (NX), name it, it was there as a base feature.

It’s like a break pedal in a car, still electric car have it and before the CAD will be done by a robot, we have a long run to do.

Just Fusion and Inventor are stock without it.
