Sheet metal tools

Sheet metal tools

Would be nice to have 2 features added to Sheet metal side.

1. Close corners command similar to how solidworks does. You can select corner faces and then pick how you want the corners to overlap or butt up to each other. Now it seems have to use offset face tool on each corner face to close up a corner and it takes awhile and doesn't automatically update if I make changes to metal thickness etc.

2. Offset flange. In addition to inside/ outside/ adjacent, there should be an offset selection to extend the flange out from the current edge. This should also work with the symmetric/ two side edge selection. This would make it easy to extend a narrow section out from a wider edge. Would save having to do a seperate cut command on a longer, wider edge.

The close corners command is what is making me use solidworks over fusion 360. I draw a lot of sheet metal panels where the corners are not welded and they overlap. We seem to have to do additional features such as extruding to get the desired result but even then it doesn't close the gaps around the bend radius effectively.

Agreed, these two features are absolutely critical for sheet metal design.

I came here specifically for #2 though. This should be an easy one to implement as you already have the bend position tied to a variable for "Bend Position - Adjacent." All this would require is creating another option "Bend Position - Offset" and instead of building the flange at the variable input for the radius, putting it instead at a user input variable. Or alternatively modifying "Bend Position - Adjacent" to have a check box for inputting this variable.

JPMach perhaps you should separate these requests so they can be voted upon individually as one is a lot harder to implement than the other. I would vote for both, however, as being absolutely necessary for sheet metal.
