Sheet Metal - Complex Shapes, flanges & extrude

Sheet Metal - Complex Shapes, flanges & extrude

Hi everyone

Been using the sheet metal environment recently, and I must say I am disappointed with what I see as limited functionality for complex parts. I am designing a piece where a flange is angled in multiple directions to the previous flange (upwards, and sideways.) With the flange command, there is no option to angle the faces from side to side, only change the direction up or down.

To work around this, I created an extended flange and attempted to trim the extra material with the extrude command. However, upon doing this I cannot then add an additional flange on the cut edge. What I would like to see is either an option to angle the flange direction sideways, or the ability to cut a piece with the extrude command then create an additional flange on that edge.

Additionally, creating something similar to the loft command (as in the model environment) would be beneficial as it would give the option to join two flanges while automatically creating bends.

Many Thanks

Matt

You can use the move command on a faces to move faces

Hi Daniel

Thanks for your reply, I ended up using the move command to adjust the faces and managed to model the part. I don't think it's a great way to design, but for now it's the only way I could do it.
