Hi,
A while ago I submitted a query on the Design and Documentation forum about selecting and measuring the center point of an arc in my sketch. I managed a workaround using the Construct>Point tool. It got me thinking that the Sketch>Point tool would benefit from further sophistication. Right now, while the Sketch>Point tool can grab midpoints and vertices, you cannot actually select what type of point you're trying to create - you just have to hope Fusion360 is smart enough to figure it out. Sometimes it is, but sometimes it is not. It would be beneficial to be able to intentionally create different types of sketch points such as:
- Point at Center of a Circle/Arc
- Midpoint between two Points
- Intersection Point
- Point at Vertex
- etc..
..Similar to the options for the Construct>Point tool. I'm coming from a background in NX, and this is only a few of the types of points you can specifically select and create within sketches. This would come in handy quite a bit.
For instance, in the help thread I linked, I was trying to figure out whether two supposedly concentric arcs in a sketch had come out of alignment. I was unable to do this within the sketch. There was no option within the Sketch (that I could find) to create a point at the center of an arc. When I held down the left mouse button on the approximate location of the center point, a dozen sketch points came up (because my model contained many arcs around this center point), but when you rolled over them, the arc they were associated with didn't highlight, so I had no idea which arc they belonged to. If Sketch>Point had options for the type of point you wanted to create, it would have allowed me to go to "Sketch>Point>Point at Center of Circle/Arc", select the arcs in questions creating points at their center, then measure the distance between them. These specially created points would have specific names as opposed to automatically generated "Sketch Point" when you make a circle, such as Center Point 1, Center Point 2, and would be associated with the feature that created them, so that when you selected Center Point 1, the arc in question would highlight.
Thanks and please consider!
