Right-click isolate body

Right-click isolate body

I would like to be able to quickly isolate bodies.

In a crowded scene, if I need to make some changes to a single body it's currently a lot of work to hide all the stuff around it. If we had the option of select and isolate either a single or group of picked bodies it would make life much easier.

Yep, I want this too!

Do most of your designs have multiple bodies not components?

I ask only because there is an isolate capability for components.

Even with components, if there are dozens or hundreds of individual bodies that still means large groups around the body you want to modify. And yes, until a design is pretty well formed I don't start to part out to components. I tend to work scattershot so parts are added and modified all over the design until it's how I want it. I'm not an organized type. In 3dsMax and other poly modelers I usually assign keys to to do something like Hide Unselected/Unhide All or similar.

What about this, my idea will work for both components and bodies.

At the right side of the body/component, there's an option (radio button icon) to click and it'll only make that part be visible while the rest become dim, but to my current understading, all of the parts is still active (as in if I were to make a cut extrusion, it'll affect the dim areas as well).

So my suggestion is, the moment we choose to click button related to the part (or multiple parts; components/bodies) it'll only make those parts to be active, whereas the rest will be disabled, whatever changes we do will only affect the active part. To return back, one will just need to press the radio button of the project.

To select multiple components/bodies, we can shift + click on the components we want, when we hover on any of the selected components, it'll show the radio button icon as usual, except whenever we click on it, it'll activate all those item selected.

If you guys need a clearer picture, lemme know and I'll probably work into making some visual examples.

The isolate  function will still work the same as it currently is, my above suggestion is for people who doesn't necessarily want to turn off the other parts cause it could serve as visual cue for the user.

Good ideas.

In my ideal world, I wouldhave two options. One, isolate completely, the other, isolate with transparency for actions where everything else is transparent as you say, where they are all see through but not active as references. Either one would be workable for me.

I think having an option to right click a body and isolate either the component or the body would be very helpful.

Yes,  I would be great to right click on a body and have two more options in the menu.   Isolate body, and Isolate Component.

any news on when this feature will be integrated?

bumping the thread. had a similar idea recently. All options like opacity, hide / show and isolate body can be consolidated into a visibility option in the right click menu. Isolating is very useful

This would be such a huge convenience improvement!

You could also take a page from audio software and Ctrl+click the light bulb to "solo" anything: sketch, body, component, construction...
