I tried being very careful creating empty components and activating them with a new design. Unfortunately I learned that saving and restoring resets the active focus to the top level in the graph.
I didn't realize this until an hour or two after reloading so now things are unrecoverably intermingled.
It'd be really great if the current active component were persisted in saves / reloads.
