I think it would be helpful to be able to drag the components up or down in the browser tree. for instance, if I want to take a component created last, and drag it up to the top of the browser. This would help with keeping the components organized within the browser.
If moving them in the timeline breaks things, give each component a "SortOrder" property, and just have the GUI sort by that. Super common technique in programming.
Another vote for this, new to F360 but seems to me it will get real messy real fast if we can't organize our components logically. If it has some impact that I don't see, then as thirtybird said just make it a GUI thing.
With large complicated designs and the visibility of certain parts off searching thru the browser for components is a huge waste of time. We should have the option of at least organizing the items in the browser in alpha order. Sorting by visibility and other parameters would be great also. I am not happy with the amount of time spent looking for items in the browser. We should at least have the option of sorting them into a format (or folders) that would save time.
I think what we are talking about is simply re-ordering the elements in the browser. For example, I have a huge CNC CAM operation with hundreds of components to cut out. I have also created the stock. Sometimes I want to turn the stock component on or off. To do this, I have to scroll all the down to the bottom of my components list where my stock is sitting in order to toggle it on. I simply want to move it to the top of the browser list so that I can more easily access it for toggling on/off. This is just one case where reordering items in the browser would be helpful and save a ton of time. I'm not talking about changing the relationship between the components or messing with the timeline in any way, this is strictly a GUI organizational issue for me. I can easily reorder CAM operations, for example.
