Re-Orientate the XYZ Triad

Re-Orientate the XYZ Triad

Hi Guys

Love the new XYZ triad in Fusion - Thanks!

It would be great if we could re-orientate the XYZ triad, much like that of the View Cube.  I work with a lot of .STEP files and after opening will always re-orientate the part the way I like it.  The only problem then, is my XYZ triad no longer represents my desired axes. e.g. Z = Up  (See attached screen grab).

Hope you can make this idea a reality!

Cheers

Grant

Let me explain better.  When you edit the view cube you change the definition of top and front relative to the world coordinate systems. This makes the view more logical, but as you point our the part is still in its original orientation to the coordinate systems.

So i suggest a different approach.

Open the same file you show. Do not edit the view cube. Instead, in the modify pane select the move command. Set the move object type to bodies and then select the body(s), next use the rotate manipulators to rotate the bodies so they are oriented to the wcs like you want. You can also move the body to the positive X,Y, Z quadrant if you like. Once done the part will be aligned to the coordinate system and you won't need to redefine the view cube.

Hi Kevin

Ah, yes of course!  Thanks for the detailed explanation.  Not sure why I had my head so wrapped around the view cube.

(Still, it would be nice if the Triad could simply be reset).

Cheers
