I find myself going into appearance and swapping between the final material appearance and something like white plastic so I can alternately see what things will look like and see them in a way that’s easy to see details and work with.
Component color cycling kinda works for this but it'd be great to have a keyboard shortcut to have just the current component display as something like a high-contrast grey or off-white so it's easy to see the shading and details - and it should be super fast and just a quick keyboard shortcut away at any moment.
