On-screen indication of zoom scale

There are several actions I can take to tell me what the current grid unit is, but that's the point: I should be able to tell at a glance.

Please add an option to have on-screen scale indication, whether it's in the form of a map-style unit indicator (see maps.google.com, or any other modern map) or a paint/paint.net/photoshop/etc style position indicator.

+1 for google maps style indicator.  I am not a fan of the grid, and I measure things when I need to, but importing something and having a quick way of determining rough scale (checking for correct units, etc.) would be great.
