I am needing 2-11 1/2 NPT threads in a part I am working on, seems no good way to do this with Fusion? 1st function I have actually found that was surprisingly not supported??
I believe at this point your best solution will be to try to model or import an NPT bolt or plug or whatever, then position it where you want it in the model and use that to cut the material out of your model. I know it's not a good answer or solution but it should work and I think it's about as good as you are going to get. It seems like it would be stupid easy for them to make a tapered threading tool that basically does the same thing but I guess not.
It is crazy that something as common as a npt thread is not avialable, but good call by yoshimitsuspeed, but slightly different, method (better in my opnion) is to import a npt union, trim it and merge it with your part so you have the correct dimensinos and a nice chamber and such. Either way, good idea sir!
I am making custom waveguides for tank level sensors. The mounting ports for these devices on top of tanks is normally 2 or 3" NPT. I got my waveguide 90% drawn... and then no NPT tapered threads? This is a very common need. Thanks
This is an immediate concern/requirement for us moving forward. We're on board with the format, but it's the little (BIG) things that count. Having NPT threads on the drop down is a hot-fix i will be requesting elsewhere too. Love the product, but even with our higher pressure N2 rigs used for valve cycling / data acquisition we need NPT threads inculded ASAP to properly convey and execute test protocols.
Please prioritize this as a midstream update if possible!
This would be such an insanely easy feature to add. I can't believe it's not getting more attention from AD. They are making it sound like it needs some complicated thread maker. It's a tapered thread. All tapered threads have a nominal thread depth by it's standard. You should just be able to select the bore, select the top face the depth will be measured off of and the thread creator will create your tapered thread right there, Software side this would be a pre formed plug so it's not creating threads it's just adding this thread form there. Should be insanely easy. Then you just need an option box where you can move it in or out from nominal if needed and ideally a way to select a plane or point as the top bore face for holes that aren't tapped on a planar face. Done
NPT pipe threads are used on so many different things, they really should be an option for them in the thread selection drop downs. I work in an industry related to pumps, refineries, and similar industries and we use NPT taps all of the time. We use sizes from 1/8" to 2" on a very regular basis.
