New sketch rectangle command.

New sketch rectangle command.

I would like to have the ability to create a rectangle starting from the midpoint of an existing line and it creates the new rectangle starting from the midpoint of itself and drag out to specified size. And by the direction you drag it creates it the way you want it.

No math involved

faster modeling

accurate midpoints

I have a few photos to help describe.

If you have the rectangle tool selected, when you hover around the midpoint of the line you want to start the rectangle on, hold [SHIFT] and you can snap to the midpoint.  This allows you to start the rectangle on the midpoint (or end it on another midpoint, etc.) and it maintains the midpoint constraint.

@SolubleSpork That I know, but I am looking to create the new rectangle from its own midpoint.

Ah I see, so you want a midpoint alternative to "Center Rectangle".  Meaning, [click] sets the midpoint of one of the horizontal lines and [click] sets a corner, defining the size, rather that right now which your only option is to create a rectangle however else and THEN shift-click a midpoint of the rectangle line and something else to make a coincident or midpoint constraint?

YES! You got it.... I can't tell you how many times I wished this was an option...
