You just have to constrain the offset features to the original sketch entities. Some of that is done automatically, but not all of it depending on the underlying geometry.

Trippies approach was unsuccessful on my much more complexe offset. Selecting two adjacent offset segments grayed out all constraints except lock. Furthermore, competing products produce all of the constraints plus an offset dimension and I have the option of selecting a face and offsetting its edges. Still further, competing products offset command will project selected edges that are not on the active sketch plane all under the hood saving me that extra step (no auxiliary sketch lines either).
