I think it would be great to be able to name a function and even the part when you creat the body. It wil quickly allow you to identify the part you just made in the bodies as well as see them in the time line.
240 votes...... Come on....... This is a no brainer...... Everytime I make a component I have to then go rename it in the browser...... that is adding an extra operation to every component I make.....
This idea is very much needed. The current workflow encourages users NOT to name their features. If a 'Name' field was available directly in the edit box, users would naturally get into the healthy habit of naming things.
I would probably just add an input box at the bottom of the various 'edit' windows, rather than putting the field in the window title bar. The window title bar often reminds us of what tools is being used, especially useful for tools such as Press Pull which are context-dependent. Something like the mock-up below, perhaps.
Note that putting this input field at the bottom encourages its use, in much the same way as in supermarkets they put chewing gum and other small items right beside the checkout. You first create the feature, see a preview of it so you have a pretty clear idea of what purpose the thing serves, and just when you are about to click that 'OK' button your eyes glide over the name field—you are automatically reminded.
Edit:Future Consideration... no kidding! This is an exceptionally useful idea, and one that should be relatively easy to implement. How much more future consideration is needed before it makes it to the product?
