Modification to Display Environment to make sketches more legible

Modification to Display Environment to make sketches more legible

Right now there's not a display environment that gives easily legible sketches.

Dimensions with the same color as geometry (see Photo Booth makes it very hard to see what’s what.

There’s an Ideastation request to change dimension leader color, which is a good solution, but surprisingly that didn’t get much traction.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-ideastation-request-a/i-d-like-to-change-the-display-color...

Grey Room is much better but it’s too hard to see reference dimensions and underconstrained construction geometry.

Dark Sky is fine in that respect, but the dimensions are the same color as geometry again.

So how about lightening up the reference dimensions and underconstrained construction geometry in Grey Room, and/or making dimensions green in Dark Sky.Capture.JPG

Sketching really needs a lot of coloring abilities.

It's been requested before in 2014, but hasn't gotten much attention.

I would like to see the ability to change any line and fill colors to an arbitrary color, to help make things clearer.  I would want it to override the feature colors.  At a minimum, allowing the changing of the fill colors would help A LOT.

Yes, I'd also like complete flexibility to change the color of sketch lines, but it seems that the chance of my above request being implemented is higher because it's just a different combination of already existing functionality.

I had tied to bump an older thread regarding changing line colors etc as well to differentiate from toothpath line in CAM. I may be slightly colorblind...blue/purple? lol

Ps- This is if the sketch becomes un-constrained. Black lines of sketch turn to blue.

 great!

Is higher priority given to quick/easy changes?

I'm not a programmer, but wouldn't this just involve changing one line of code, from one color to another?

Well, as a programmer, very little is ever just "change one line of code".

I would bet this change would take several days to a week to implement correctly.  They would probably have to attach a custom color property to each line/feature, write code to allow the user to change the color, code to load/persist it, and change the code that draws to see if the color was overridden.

@BrienKing

I'm not talking about all of the flexibility mentioned by others, just what I originally proposed.

For instance, in Grey Room, just make it a darker grey so that the unconstrained geometry and reference dimensions are more legible.

Ah, sorry misunderstood.   Should be easier.

no worries 🙂

hi Noah_Katz,

we already have some developers working on one portion of this.  We are taking the sketch geometry line work to 2 pixels alleviate the delta between sketch and dimension lines.  We are just finalizing through customer feedback the color schemes.

I'm not sure on a confirmed release for this at this time, but likely within the next few updates.

That's great news, thanks
