Mirror without merging/duplicating bodies

Sometimes I just need to mirror a part without it merging into the source body or leaving the source body behind.

 

I currently mirror the body about an offset plane; somewhere to the side of the part. Delete the originating body, and move the reversed duplicate back to the origin. That's alot of steps. Maybe I'm missing something.

I also tried a non-proportional scale of -1 in one axis, and that didn't work either, but should yield a similar effect (a la Alias).

Amusingly, there's probably logic somewhere that prevents F360 from accepting a negative scale factor, but that'd totall solve this without adding anything.

Thank you for this post. The mirroring limitations are driving me nuts sometimes! 😄

I would like to see more mirroring operations for both, sketches and objects.

Thank you for your idea - this is getting archived due to lack of votes.  Currently when you mirror a body it creates a new body inside a mirror folder.  To merge the two bodies, use the combine feature inside the modify tab.

But are you able to delete the mirror folder afterwards? I am not! And this applies to nearly all operations that creates new grouping folders. I can move the new bodies out of the folder, but the folder can not be deleted - this clutters the Browser fastly.

Is there anyway we can restart this Idea? i was just trying to mirror a part without creating a duplicate so my CAM would stay linked but its not possible??
