Make Mesh to BRep/TS UI consistent for menu browser and RMB

Make Mesh to BRep/TS UI consistent for menu browser and RMB

Too many commands are scattered all over the interface and follow not logic.

The convert button should always present you the option to convert

Mesh to TS

Mesh to BRep

I really do not want to have to switch to the Patch mode just to be able to convert mesh to TS.

Convert in Patch mode turns Mesh into TS, why makes no sense, I am in Patch mode.

Convert in Sculpt mode turns Mesh into TS, makes sense I am in Sculpt Mode.

So If I click on a mesh in Browser or RMB click on a mesh in the 3D view should also

be the same options to convert.

Currently only Patch main menu gives me the option to convert Mesh to Brep.

RMB in Browser only gives me Convert to TS option.

Convert should also include BRep to Mesh, when I select a BRep surface.

Hi Claas,

Good point, it's possible that this was just an oversight. Mesh to BRep and BRep to Mesh should probably be available from the context menu in the Patch workspace. Generally the context menu functions should correlate to those in the workspace's toolbar.

Convert is available from all workspaces as this is a 'global' tool. It's true that it might not be meaningful in this context, but as mentioned in the other Convert conversation, we'd probably like to rethink the conversion tools sometime soon anyway.

Thanks!
Jake

As our mesh workflows expand I expect we will reorganize where mesh conversion commands are placed. We are contemplating a Mesh workspace where multiple format conversion may be hosted better. I think the Convert command is already a bit overloaded.
