Make Fusion 360 the go-to software for advanced FFF 3d printing [long term]

Make Fusion 360 the go-to software for advanced FFF 3d printing [long term]

Hello! This would be a long term goal.

Add a 3d printing workspaces. Make Fusion 360 the go to software for advanced 3d printing. Don't compete with the plug-n-play slicers.

Advanced meaning:

  • multiple material (soluble supports, flexibles etc)
  • fan control
  • non-planar printing
  • more than 3 axis printing
  • 3d filling / 3d honeycomb, like this
  • cloud monitoring built in.
  • automatic pause and wait for operator to drop in nuts, bolt or other parts

This could help bridge the gap between the professional market and home-gamers. Fusion is gaining some really great CAM capabilities, like 5 axis, but that is mainly for the pros (or whoever can afford a 5 axis machine). Adding an advanced 3d printing workspace to your already advanced modeler could help establish fusion as something both the pros and the diy:ers use.

Also someone needs to make non-planar printing something you don't read about, but can do yourself.

I agree. Please add 3D printing workspace. An example generate support material and give the ability to "edit" the supports.

Autodesk does have some linking to 3D printing abilities.

But there is no standard for how slicing is done, aside from the generation of g-code.

I've not found a better slicer than Simplify3D. It doesn't work with all hardware, but it works with most, and can be integrated into the printing workflow.

Keep in mind that FFF printing is different than the types of printing done using resin and powders. Some need supports, some don't. Autodesk has a product in the 3D realm hardware wise, but I wouldn't expect it to be supported directly.

Invest in a good slicer. I have never regretted moving to Simplify3D.

3D Slicing should be built into Fusion 360, Just like CAM is.

Please!!
