Let me enter a number for how many duplicates I want of a component

Instead of having to copy a component several times, I would like if there could be a way that a user like me could simply click the component I want to copy and then a box would come up and then I could enter a number for how many of that component I want. Then press enter and have that number of copies I entered appear, so I can move those new components into position for an assembly. For example I need to put spheres inside of these holes to create this component. Instead of having to copy this sphere 21 more times, I wish there was a way I could enter the number of spheres I need, then when I press enter they appear to let me move them into the assembly and link them to the component as a joint.

Hi!

Although i feel like your request makes sense i also feel like the example is confusing. Would you not be able to create a pattern to fix your problem? (CREATE > Pattern > Rectangular Pattern) The rectangular pattern fuction creates a copie of items in a (rectangular/straight) pattern, which seems right in your example.

Having said that; I still feel like your request is sensible in cases where there is no clear pattern. For example; when assembling all fasteners, at one of the final stages of a design, i would like to be able to just 'click them in place'.

As the above comment, it is very tedious to have to copy and paste multiple copies of imported components, such as McMaster Carr items.  I would like to see a quantity selection as part of the copy command.  Another annoying 'feature' is when copy/pasting that the model is re-orientated and resized EVERY TIME!.

Hi KHilby41,

I felt like your struggle with the move/copy tool is very similar to mine! I hope you don't mind that I used your idea as the base for an idea I've posted after I read yours. Please check this idea, would love to hear your thoughts!
