The Autodesk Inventor Customization window offers the most simplistic and compact way to customize settings and just needs to add a few other features:

From what I gathered from looking at the comments on this thread is that there are some people who are using Fusion 360 that have used other types of design or modeling software. Autodesk, the funny thing is that you guys have virtually no consistency when it comes to keyboard commands and to 3D navigation between your applications. However, Fusion 360 seems to be the application where everything collides. Therefore, lets take a look at how other design applications enable the user to custom the program and look at what they do correct:
Autodesk Inventor 2014
Inventor customization, I believe, is simple and compact. Everything regarding customization is in one place and presents the user with a clean looking interface that doesn't require the use of too much documentation, as it should be. It has the import/export buttons as well as the ribbon and marking menu tabs all located in one place. It also includes little icons which helps the user understand what the command is. Also, it includes the ability to filter all the commands as well as sort them.
However, there are a few features that are missing from this interface that other applications have that need to be incorporated into Fusion 360.
Autodesk Alias Design 2014
Workflow/Profiles - What is good about Alias Design is the ability to switch "workflows" which changes the UI and hotkeys with the workflow.
3ds Max Design 2014
Mouse tab - 3ds Max provides the ability to really customize the mouse controls. This is pretty much missing from the other applications that needs to be implemented in Fusion 360.
Override feature - 3ds Max presents an interesting concept that lets you override a command if you hold it down for a certain amount of time (which is 0.25 seconds in this case). Something like this would be great to implement because fusion is now starting to combine the sculpt environment and the model environment. If you are used to working in the model environment, you can map "B" to box in the model environment and you then you can override it so that holding it down would activate the box command in the sculpt environment or vise versa.
Mudbox 2014
Choose starting behavior - The key thing to point out here is the "Use keyboard shortcuts from" combo box that lets you choose how the application should behave. To really lower the learning curve in Fusion 360, you should implement this feature but add other applications to the list such as those mentioned above and below.
Mouse modifiers - Another interesting thing is the ability to add mouse modifiers to commands. Doing this would allow other hardware devices to use Fusion 360 more effectively like tablets and such.
Maya 2012
Maya really lets you get the deep customization that I am trying to get at. However, it is a little overwhelming and Fusion 360 might not necessarily need to have this detailed customization. If it does, then you need to reorganize the way that this information is presented to the user.

AutoCAD 2014
AutoCAD kind of has many of the features that I have mentioned but it doesn't present it in a way that is very user friendly. Like Maya, it is a bit overwhelming. It would do a lot better if thing were separated into tabs.
Solidworks 2010
Search bar - The neat thing about the Solidwork's customize menu is the search bar that lets you find a command quickly to set the keystrokes. That is something the other customize menus just don't have.
Blender 2.60
Blender pretty much has all the features I talked about so you might want to emulate this interface. However, I just thought that people might like to use an interface that was originally developed by Autodesk so it is more familiar to people.

I should also point out AutoCAD Multi-Character versus Autodesk Inventor Multi-Character Command Aliases. For AutoCAD, you have to press the spacebar or press enter to confirm the command. In Autodesk Inventor, you do not have to press the spacebar or the enter button in order to confirm the command as it will automatically activate unless 2 commands are mapped to the same keystrokes in which case you must confirm the command with enter. The Autodesk Inventor functionality is the way to go but you might want to consider adding the AutoCAD functionality.
One of the main reasons why a Workflow/Profile setting needs to be implemented is due to the fact that Fusion 360 might be used on different computers by the same user and each of those computers might have different software they would like to use with fusion 360. For example, if you have 3ds max and Fusion 360 on one computer and Autodesk Inventor and Fusion 360 on another, then you might want Fusion 360 to behave like 3ds max on one computer and Autodesk Inventor on the other so your don't get confused when switching between applications. The environment in which you work can change your mental state.
The second reason why you should implement the Workflow/Profiles feature is that fusion 360 might be used on different computers with different hardware configurations. For my Mac running OS X I want to use one customization scheme and for my Dell running Windows 8.1 I want to use a different one. Also, it would open up the opportunity to use other custom hardware that isn't fully integrated in Fusion 360. You are going to have the ability to precisely customize the settings which means you can use even more custom hardware that Fusion 360 might not even support yet.
It is important to point out that the workflows/profiles feature isn't the same as the behaviors feature like Mudbox. The behaviors feature shown in Mudbox lets you choose the customization presets whereas the workflows/profiles feature lets you save custom presets. You could pretty much combine the 2 ideas but I just needed to point that out.
If you really want to make Fusion 360 better, look into adding customization profiles for other design and modeling applications not created by Autodesk such as Blender and Solidworks. That would really reduce the learning curve and boost productivity because users would not have to spend time mapping the settings. They can just select the starting profile from the list and they are all set to go. If you make Fusion 360 really customizable then you don't necessarily have to make a profile for all the different CAD applications. All you need to do is create the ability to share customization files and the community will create the profiles and share them. Although it would be much easier to include these profiles standard at the start rather than having the community make them.
And if you really want a radical idea, have Fusion 360 automatically search your computer for modeling and design software and show the customization choices of those applications at the top. Or, have Fusion 360 try and find those customization files for those applications and prompt the user if he would like Fusion 360 to import them and automatically. That way the user doesn't have to reconfigure Fusion 360 or go hunting for customization files.
Notice in Autodesk Inventor there is a button that copies all the keystrokes to the clipboard. You already have that functionality in Inventor so why not go ahead to and implement it. In Fusion 360, let me click import and then have the option to import a customization file or to paste the commands and then have Fusion 360 parse the data and reconfigure itself. Copying and pasting would be fastest method for the user and they wouldn't have worry about exporting and importing the files.
For the overrides feature, consider adding an extra column to in the table view in the Inventor customization menu that lets you select the override key.
I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for customisable keyboard shortcuts in the next release! It would be nice if they could be linked to the mode you're in as well (i.e. a separate set of keyboard shortcut definitions when in Sketch mode. R = rectangle, Ctrl-R = center point rectangle etc.)
I didn't see it mentioned, but coming from Solidworks, I find that F360's lack of ability to rotate the model in space with the arrow keys a drag. There is a lot of stuff about the F360 UI I find pretty clunky - I want to like it, but am lightyears more productive with Sworks. Anyway, yes - please add shortcut keys and let us SWorks users use the arrow keys for model manipulation, it saves me from having to use the spaceball
I looked through this thread and I didn't see this question: Is there a hotkey to "Zoom All" or ISO projection, much like clicking on that little house at the upper right of the screen? It would be nice to bind it to my 3d mouse, make it easy to re-orient ones self after flipping the part round and round
1. Right click and menu item 2. Click "Choose shortcut" 3. Be notified of shortcut conflicts + be prompted whether or not you want to simply overwrite existing shortcut OR navigate to the conflicting shortcut after overwriting.
You should also be able to export a PDF with a tabled overview of commands and their assigned shortcuts.
Simply exporting your shortcuts so you can import them in other versions of Fusion is also a must.
Look to Corel Draw for how to do keyboard shortcuts.
When navigating the pulldown menus in the primary interface there is a button on each command to place it in the toolbar that is great. I want a second button to create a keyboard shortcut for the command. After shortcut button clicked a small textbox appears recording my keystrokes with a check button to except. A similar functionality for the other toolbars is also needed. For example right clicking on ‘Look At’ or on the view cube produces the textbox. These textboxes will also accept keystrokes from the 3dconnexion controller buttons.
As someone from the gaming industry i saw in Fusion some big power i would use everyday as an hardsurface artist, but right now its just not possible to work with this software, shortcuts is the most important thing to work fast and efficiently. So please add shortcuts customization, Fusion got a lot potential and i would love to use it for the games i am working on.
Mouse customisation would be really good. The middle mouse button on most mice is a scroll wheel that is relatively hard to push down (compared to a normal mouse button), and to have that as such a central work tool (pan and rotate) without the ability to reassign it to mouse button 4 or 5 which most mice have under the thumb, is not ideal. Customising the means by which to enter pan and rotate modes would be great.
Provide ability to change the combination of keyboard and mouse button presses to pan, zoom, and rotate model.
Right now, to pan you have to hold down middle mouse button, to zoom you scroll the middle mouse button wheel, and to rotate, you hold down shift and middle mouse button.
This is inconsistent with other CAD programs and other image editing tools so you end up having to re-learn each one and switching between them causes issues. Also, it causes isssues if you don't have a mouse with a middle button or scroll wheel.
Instead, you should be able to customize what combination of keyboard and button presses causes each navigation type. You can keep the existing behavoir as the default, but you should allow the user to change it if you like. For example, the user would be able to change it so that when they press shift and the right mouse button, it rotates the model.
There is a setting in the preferences to change the keys for zoom/pan/rotate to emulate a few other programs. It's not exactly what you're looking for but there might be a setting that you like better than the default.
Please please please expand shortcut keys (especially for Mac). The most major one missing for me is being able to pan while holding the space bar as my Magic Mouse doesn't have a scroll button!!!
I would like to see hotkeys used in sketching. I would like the ability to change from say a line to a circle while sketching. I do not like the way it is setup now. I have to stop sketching, go to sketch tab and change to next type of line. Hot Key would solve that problem. Another thing would be able to do free form sketching.
Configurable navigation and "T" for transform would be a most welcome addition. Skip the modifier keys, please. If you have the entire keyboard at your disposal, you don't need to use CTRL etc..
