I'd find it helpful to have an indication on the screen when a sketch is being edited. It should include the name of the sketch and a button (red octagon) to click to stop the editor. Something like the one to the left of the cube in the image below.
In the meantime, I think it should be noted there is a subtle indicator already. In the Browser, if you expand the Sketches dropdown whichever sketch you're currently editing will be shown last in the list. The other sketches disappear temporarily.
