Import/export a Autodesk Inventor File

Import/export a Autodesk Inventor File

Hi, my suggest is a option to import/export a Autodesk Inventor file (.ipt).

For me it's useful, because I use windows and mac. On my job use everyday the Inventor and in my home use Fusion, and I need this feature to work in home.

Please vote on this feature, it's useful for everyone.

When you say you want to import an Inventor file do you mean will all the history, if that's what you're after I don't see it happening as Inventor is a completely different system and has features that are not in Fusion and Fusion has features not in Inventor.

If all you want is import and export without history you can do that already through dashboard in your internet browser.

I (kind of) get that the file structure of F360 and Inventor are fundamentally different but it would be REALLY helpful if Autodesk could come up with a better way of having hte two products share files. I do it a lot and right now its a PIA.

I love your these two products, each for different reasons. Making them communicate seems like a must.

Thanks in advance.

I agree that it would be great to be able to import and export inventor files.

Fusion 2013 was available to install locally and communicated with inventor and would open an inventor file - let you edit it - then return to inventor.  It converted the part to a INV part.

This feature is needed and it is a let down that I can not edit my inventor files and then return that part to my assemblies.

OK maybe it can be done. I have been working on it. But it is a time consuming task and a total let down.

I updated my software with the expectation that I could continue to use inventor - modify some parts using fusion.

Autodesk let many inventor users down with the Fusion 2013 tease, then to say sorry we are not doing to invest in making that available for you anymore.

Now you want me to learn a new software.

Any if I want to create a non inventor part - import it into inventor - I have to wait to have it emailed to me from a360.

Problem - My CAD station does not have email.

Options -

1: Learn a new software to make some complex curves to my inventor parts, it that can even be done because I have still not found a easy way to do this.

or

2: Create a part using a360 then import it to inventor - all history gone - so start over again if edits needed.

3: Convert the part to an importable format - hope for the best

4: Wait for the part to be emailed to me from a360

5: Copy the part from a workstation to the cad station - thumb drive.

WHAT A MESS THIS IS...

So a360 Fusion left inventor users out to dry.

That is my review so far on 2016 Fusion.

The bean counters decided to sell a new product and drop inventor. Best guess is because a360 is cloud based and inventor is local. If you want to use fusion - PAY UP.

Come on guys  - If it wasn't for inventor users you would not have even gone a360.

Help us out..

Give me a Fusion 2016 that ran like Fusion 2013 locally.

Hi.

I totally approve to this request in respect to an Import WITH history.

This would open a Migration path from Inventor to Fusion 360.
